The tips listed below might not be that effective if you find the problem when it is too late. If that it the case, then you are going need far stronger cat urine remover and odor products to do the trick. However, if you can get to the "accident" in time, then follow these simple tips;

Mix one table spoon of mild non bleaching, non alkaline detergent with a cup of warm water, then sprinkle the mixture onto the area on the carpet where your cat had urinated. Take your time to shampoo the mixture well into the urinated area, and then dry it all up blotting the area with a dry towel

Now make a new mixture of a one third of a cup of white vinegar and one third of a cup of warm water. Sprinkle this mixture onto the stained area where your cat messed and let it soak for a few minutes. Now dry up the spot by blotting it with a white towel.

If needed, repeat the mild detergent step and white vinegar steps each one more time.

Now cover the cleaned up area with a dry towel and weigh it down with some books so as to help the towel absorb as much of the moisture as possible. Open all windows a switch on all fans to help with the drying process.

Once you are confident that carpet is cleaned and totally dry, use your vacuum to finish off the job.
