How to clean pet urine
Knowing how to clean pet urine effectively generally depends on how fast you can tackle the problem from the time the "accident" occured. This holds especially true for cats. The reason for this is because urine tends to stain if it is left over a long period. Who knows, you just might not need to go out and buy a pet urine cleaner.
Let us look at the folloing tips on how to clean pet urine;
The first thing to do is to always notice the urine accident as quickly as possible. Now this does not mean that you have to track every movement that your cat or dog makes every second of the day. Do that and your pet will start to have second thoughts about your sanity. The best way to do this is by simply doing a spot check every now and then.
One of the best ways to detect urine is by using a black light. The reason for this is because urine tends to glow under the black light. Keep in mind to switch off the lights and close all curtains as black lights emmit very week rays, therefore making it very difficult to use under normal daylight conditions. Try not to freak your pet out when you do this procedure. It can look pretty scary.
Once you have found the urine stain, make a mixture of one table-spoon of non-alkaline, non-bleaching mild detergent and a cup of warm water, then sprinkel this mixture onto the urine stained area. After a few minutes, blot (don't rub) the stained area with a dry towel or any other type of material that absorbs mosutre well.
Repeat the same procedure above, but this time using a mixture of 1/3 cup of white vinager and 2/3 cup of warm water. Blot the area again with a dry towel.
Repeat the prodedure again by using the non-alkaline, non-bleech detergant and warm water mixutre. Blot with dry towel again.
Now sprinkle regular clean water onto the area and once again blot with a dry towel.
After doing all of this, cover the cleaned area with another dry towel and weigh it down with some books. Leave it like that (Make sure to leave all windows open and fans on to help dry) for at least six hours.
Once you are confident that the area is totally dry, vacum the cleaned area in order to get rid of any dry exess that has been left over.
Please keep in mind that this cleaning procedure only works well if you catch the urine "accident" at it's earliest stage.
